Hey, I'm just wondering what types of music you guys listen to.
Right now I am listening to mostly electronica and different variants of it. Those artists include Deadmau5, Boys Noize, Digitalism, Crystal Castles, Justice, and Daft Punk. Then I also listen to some other just normal mellow stuff like Death Cab for Cutie, Of Montreal, Vampire Weekend, The Arcade Fire, and Interpol. To top that off I listen a few bands like Death From Above 1979, Nine Inch Nails, and Queens of The Stone Age. I know for a fact I am not mentioning many bands I listen to.

I also play the electric bass and I am really good at it (probably best at school, although that isn't saying much.) I know tons of music theory and can answer all questions at school, even for a lot of the guitar players. I just started guitar Friday and know plenty about it. Theory I learned earlier and knowledge of the bass helped me out. I can easily create chords and harmonies by just being told to do so. Within months practice, I think I can be just as extraordinaire on guitar as I am on bass, and I've been playing since 5th grade.

So what kind of music do you listen to and what are your experiences with music?

I'm actually also a big fan of electronica. I really like Justice, Daft Punk, MSTRKFRT, DANGER, Bloody Beetroots, and a few others. I also listen to most of the other bands you mentioned as well (Death Cab and Arcade Fire - huge fan) I actually listen to a whole lot of music, it's a pretty huge part of my life - it would take me forever to name my favorite bands but am currently listening to Passion Pit, Miike Snow, Muse, Dan Black, Manchester Orchestra, The Black Kids, and a few others. Oh and I can listen to Sigur Ros any moment of my life, that stuff is honestly magical.

As far as playing music, I've been playing the electric guitar for about 6 years now, it's always been mostly as a hobby/fun past time, but I've kept with it pretty solid, and still play regularly. I actually just threw a gig together with a bunch of my friends at the college I go to. We just covered a bunch of songs and had a great time.

I actually listen to all of the music that you mentioned excluding Bloody Beetroots, because I don't really like them.

I have also seen a ton of these bands live. Deadmau5, Crystal Castles, Death Cab for Cutie, Nine Inch Nails, Passion Pit and many more (I love summer music festivals). You should check out Death From Above 1979 if you really like MSTRKRFT. Jesse Keeler was part of DFA1979 until they broke up and he went on to do MSTRKFRT.

I myself have not played many shows. I played at a few silly metal shows for some old friends and just school concerts and such. I am trying to get a band together with 2 of my friends, but one being fairly lazy is grounded for bad grades. It's pretty stupid, but by the end of semester we should be able to start again.

On another note, I haven't heard of Danger. I just checked it out on youtube and it is pretty awesome.

Yea, music festivals are really awesome, such a great way to see so many good bands live. Danger is a one-guy deal that my friend actually showed my a few weekends ago, really cool stuff. Now a days there are so many ways to find awesome artists that I feel I'll never have to worry about having something new and exciting to listen to :D

Yep, I'm always downloading new music I haven't heard. Makes me change a lot of my favorite bands, but I always have a definite few at top.

Coheed and Cambria, The Prize Fighter Inferno, Arkona, Finntroll, Moonsorrow, Enthroned, Ensiferum, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, Kamelot, Hammerfall, Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, Anberlin, Keane, Kayo Dot, Korpiklaani, Bloodbath, Arsis, Isis, Vader, Nile, Psycroptic, Necrophagist, John Coltrane, John Mayer, Weerd Science, Mae, Lost Prophets, Novembers Doom, Candlemass, ...And Oceans, Origin, Pillar, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rush, Saosin, Snow Patrol, Frank Sinatra, Styx, Underoath, Turisas, Claude Debussy, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Pachebel, Yellowcard, Windir, Zyklon, Zyklon B, Napalm Death, Emperor, 30 Seconds to Mars, John Mackey (composer for symphonic bands), In Flames, Arch Enemy, Jason Mraz, The Haunted, Genesis, Family Force 5, Eluveitie, Einherjer, Amon Amarth, Elexorien, Michael Jackson, The Commodores, Earth Wind & Fire, Dream Theater, DJ Shadow (great music for practicing rudiments), Demon Hunter, Decapitated, Hypocrisy, Bathory, Mayhem, Blood Tsunami, Dark Funeral, Dark Tranquillity, Behemoth, Breaking Benjamin, Becoming the Archetype, As I Lay Dying (only the album An Ocean Between Us), The Almost.

And other crap.

Right now my focus is on Kamelot, Moonsorrow, PFI, and the various classical artists. Moonsorrow has this one song that is 30 minutes long and sets the mood for winter PERFECTLY. It's beauty is in its simplicity. Great writing.

As a musician I am primarily a percussionist who dabbles in piano and bass. I plan to major in music with a focus on marimba performance and get a music business certificate. Or major in business economics with a minor in percussion. Or double major in music and economics. That's all for UGA, though. If I go to Georgia Tech I'll probably major in Physics with a focus in E&M and sound and minor in percussion. Then I'll go back for a masters degree in music technology since it apparently has the #1 masters program for it.

You really went all out with the list. Personally, I don't like many of those bands that's just me. I'm sure I'd have plenty you don't like.

One band that I have forgotten about and recently picked up again is Gorillaz. I used to love them in 2005 and hadn't listened to much but Demon Days for about 2 or less years. I forgot how great their 2 albums are and I am psyched for their third album Plastic Beach, which is supposed to come out soon.
