The Game

Hero RPG is a flash-based role playing game set back into a fantasy world of swords and magic. If I had to pick a game similar to this I would probably go with Diablo 2 and a little bit of World of Warcraft, but both games are much more complex than this one. Starting the game you get to pick one of three different classes, you can be a Warrior, Ranger, or Mage. All different and powerful in their own ways. A basic overview follows:

  • Warrior: -Good at close-range fighting and has a good defense keeping him alive longer than the other classes. Wields melee weapons such as the sword.
  • Ranger: -Fast attacking distance fighter. Has better DPS (damage-per-second) than the other characters and can prove to be one of the funnest classes of the bunch.
  • Mage: -Ranged fighter, deals more damage than the other classes. Uses magic more than the others and can prove to be truely deadly if kept at a distance

Starting the Game

You start the game off with a quick introduction to the fighting style, pressing Spacebar or clicking the enemies will put your player in 'Battle Stance' which allows you to attack. Note: You are unable to move while in battle stance but cannot attack otherwise. This battle style tends to get easier as you figure out the motions, give it some time before you decide it doesn't work for you. When you kill an enemy they sometimes (60% chance) drop an items, when this happens press Shift while standing over it to pick it up, you can't pick up an item if your inventory is full (16 Inventory slots). Once you are done with the intro screen move towards the Travel Stone and press Spacebar to go to town. Town is very different from the Battle field, you cannot use any attacks, but you can do a lot of useful actions. Spacebar will be your button of interaction, use it to open trade windows, talk to people, and other basic actions. The blacksmith is the gray-stonish building, that is where you will purchase any weapons or armor. The Item vendor is next to the blacksmith and sells potions and the what-not. Below the blacksmith is the Quest Lodge, which is a very important building in this game, this is where you get your quests, which send your off to do your battles and prove your worth. The Library is at the top of the town and is very important because this is where you use your Skill Points - Don't forget to use these!

Leveling Up

Whether your fighting for fun or for a quest you're going to eventually level up - this happens when the green experience bar is filled. Each level gives your 3 Stat Points, which allow you to upgrade your Strength, Vitality, Intelligence, Dexterity, and Defense. You can use these points in the 'Menu' during any time of the game, so don't forget to use these. Also with each level you get a Skill Point, which you can use in the Library, these points are used to learn new skills, which make the fights much more interesting and easier. -Very Important

The Stats

Using your Stat Points effectivly is a very important part of the game. Part of this is determined by which class you have. Strength is mostly for Warriors, as this adds damage to their attacks. Vitality is an important stat for all the classes, this determines how much health a character has, more vitality means more HP wich means longer life. Intelligence is also important for all as it determines how much mana (Magic Power) you have, this is expecially important for Mages. Dexterity is mostly used for Rangers and increase the damage done by their ranged attacks. Defense controls how much damage your character takes from enemy attacks so it is very crucial you put points into this if your dying too fast.

Gold

Gold is the currancy that the world goes by, you can get gold by completing quests, drops from enemies, or selling items. Gold is used to buy weapons, armor, and other accessories as well as potions. Managing your gold effectivley is important.

Selling/Buying

Selling is a very nice addition to this game, make sure your sell your old equipment because it proves to make other purchases possible. Selling items may be a little different than what you're used to. First off in order to sell something you must be in town. Simply open up your inventory, click 'Sell' from the options, and then click on the item you wish to sell. Its that easy. Buying items is pretty easy as well, just go to the vendor, press Spacebar to open the trade window and then click on the item you wish to purchase.

Saving

Because this game is so big, it is unlikely that you will beat it without leaving your computer. Thats why there are three save slots so you can save your progress and continue later. Saving is very easy, just open up the Menu, click on the 'Save' tab and click on the profile you wish to save. Make sure you save often so you don't lose progress.
